Divorce Rate Has Increased

The divorce rate has increased at a very high rate in the recent days. It has been reported from many studies carried out that the rate of divorce has increased by a rate of 50%. However; this rate is higher in other counties and lower in some countries. These studies have reported several reasons why divorce is on the increase. These reasons are:

a) Many married couples divorce due to lack or the inability to have children. This is more common in Africa. It is a result of one partner opting out because the other  partner cannot give them children.

b) The other reason why this rate has increased at a high rate is because of economic or financial factors. The divorce in this case is used as a way out of financial instability. This is common in marriages where one partner cannot provide the financial needs of the family.

c) The other common reason why the divorce rate is rapidly increasing is because of infidelity in a marriage. Infidelity is very common in the recent days. This is where one partner is unfaithful or both partners are unfaithful.

d) Some people claim that sometimes for many reasons, love wears out. This can also be a reason why the rate of divorce is rapidly increasing. This is where one partner‘s love for their partner wears off.

The studies that have been carried out in different countries in relation to the divorce rate have reported that the divorce rate is low in fist marriages. The reports claim that the divorce rate in first marriages is at 41%. It has also been reported that the divorce rate is moderate in second marriages at a rate of 60%. The third marriages reported the highest rate of divorce at 75%.

However, these divorce rates vary and differ from country to country. This is because the rate of divorce is not the same in all countries. In other countries divorce is not part of their culture and thus the divorce rate is low and only happens in the urban areas.

The research has found that women more women file for divorce cases as compared to men. This may be because of the emotional nature of women. Statistics show that men divorce at the age of 40 to 44 while women are more likely to divorce at the age of 35 to 39.This may be because most women aged 40 and above, tend to look for stability or stable marriages. On the other hand most men look for stable marriages at the age of 45 and above.

Many people often wonder if it is possible for these rates to decrease. Well, there are many things such as morality, believes and ways of life that need to be changed to decrease this rate. The one step that would help to decrease this rate is commitment. Commitment is a virtue that many marriages lack. If the partners are committed to each other regardless of the circumstance or hardships that they face, then the divorce rate would see a decrease from the high rate.
